In 2012 our lead Beneficiary is People Who Care

People Who Care is a not for profit volunteer organization which provides HACC funded services to the frail aged, people with disabilities and youth in Mandurah and the Perth Metro area, these services assist our clients  to remain living independently in the community and  to overcome social isolation. People Who Care have offices in Guildford, Warwick and Mandurah.

People Who Care assist our clients with transport services to hospital and doctors appointments and also to pay their bills and do their shopping.  We also provide Gardening services, Social Support services and on site Leisure Centre activities.  60% of our client base come from Cultural and Linguistic backgrounds.  All the services that are delivered to our clients are done by volunteers, these comprise of regular volunteers that work on a weekly basis, Corporate and Youth volunteering programs.

We currently run 2 Social Enterprise businesses that work out of our Guildford and Mandurah sites. In Guildford we run a Op Shop which provides low cost white goods, furniture, clothing and bric a brac at low cost prices and all the goods are donated.  The Op Shop is run by all volunteers.

At the Mandurah site we have a Newspaper Recycling business which is also run by retired volunteer men.  The money raised by these businesses  is put back into providing our clients with other services that we are not funded for, this may be changing  light globes, hanging pictures on walls, changing washers in taps, all sorts of handyman jobs that a client would have to pay a tradesman to do.  These services are also done by volunteer tradesman.

People Who Care have recently applied for funding through the Regional Development funds to purpose build a community hub for seniors, people who have a disability and youth within the Mandurah Region, all fundraising that People Who Care are  undertaking  is to support this new building in the Mandurah area.
