Easter Saturday 30 March 2013
10am to 4pm
Mandurah Eastern Foreshore
Summary and Results
Well it is all over for another Year.
Another great day on the Mandurah Eastern Foreshore with heaps of people there from Mandurah and surrounding areas and from Perth.
The weather was good to us again and there was lots to do for kids and adults which made the day go well. Thank you Mayor Paddi Creevey for opening the event and for the support of Mandurah City in providing the venue and the Duck Race launching platform.
Our MC made the day run smoothly with a continuous flow of information, thank you for a great job Graeme Byass who is a member of Rostrum and a past Vice Commodore of the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club.
We had a new event this year, the Corporate Duck Race and 200 tickets were sold to businesses supporting the event. Their larger ducks raced in a special race at 2:15 pm. The wind and tide was not good to us and the ducks were slow to get moving. Our Race Caller, Peter O'Neill of Racing Radio, gave us a hot time calling the order of the businesses in the race. Thank you Peter for your stamina in the long and arduous race.
The main Duck Race went smoothly this year following a slight wind and tide change and was again ably called by David Templeman MLA who got everyone excited in his own inimitable style. Thank you David. The Pink and Yellow ducks took a while to navigate the course and the winners were announced straight after the race. (The winner was a yellow duck this year).
Thank you to all the volunteers and stall holders who made the day a success and to the Committee and Rotarians involved in all the preparation for the event.
Thank you also everyone who supported this great community event and its beneficiaries, the Peel Mobile Health Service and Rotary Projects, by buying tickets and coming along on the day, we hope you enjoyed it. Please participate again next year on Easter Saturday 19 April 2014.
Please remember our sponsors at the foot of the page and support them too.
